There are others. Bony & Clyde or, "Ma Barker". Remember the song by Boney M?  A hit which is actually about a thief.

So, who is better?  A thief or a robber?

Is there a difference between them? What is it?

In common usage, there is one main criterion: Violence.

If there is violence or threat of violence - this is a robber.

If violence is not involved, it's a thief.

Judaism uses a totally different criterion to different between a robber and a thief.
Is The act done openly at daylight – it's a robber.

If the act done is hidden, at night – it's a thief.

A thief is worse than a robber. And why is that?

The robber - who does his acts openly, in the light of day - is not afraid of humans and certainly not from the creator of the world.

The thief - who acts at night, in the dark - fears that humans will see him. The Creator of the world can see him, no matter day or night.

That is, the thief is more afraid of humans than the creator of the world. Hence it is worse.

According to Judaism - you must fear the Creator of the world who sees everything, more than humans.
